You should be perplexed, how could Russians carry out the Winter Olympic games in the tropic. Not just Russia is a big country, but Sochi is a big city too. When from one side of it the palms blossom out, from another side people are snowboarding. And it's true. We have such beautiful places, where you can swim and ice skate at the same time. And all will be natural: the sea and the snow. Sochi is a very green city year-round and I'm sure, that you will like it. It's really a good place to stay. Maybe expensive for somebody, but this is a Sochi.
